John, Amélia and Miguel with others at today’s outreach.

It is quite common for the team to be approached by, or to come across people who believe that they do not need to read the leaflets we offer or listen to the message we preach because they are church goers, or they are followers of other religions.  Both John and Miguel preached on the uniqueness of Christ and that it is only through Him that we can come to God.  Not by church, nor even Christianity but by Christ alone.

We are reminded of Christ’s very sobering words:
Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.  Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?  And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
(Matthew 7:21-23)

The only people that these words can apply to are those that profess His name, those that believe themselves to be Christians.  The second part of Christ’s warning can only apply to those believers that believe themselves to be filled with the Holy Spirit and who have Gifts of the Holy Spirit (i.e. the Charismatics and Pentecostals).  These wrongly assume that because they have gifts of the Spirit (or at least appear to have) this must mean that they are true believers.  Christ words to them are even more disturbing–I NEVER knew you

How disturbing it must be to have lived your life under an assumption of belief only to find out at the end, on the day of judgement, that your Christianity was of no avail and that you have been rejected on the day of judgement!

This week we were supported by two other brethren.  One of them set up a table where he places free Gospel literature and DVD’s for people to take.  As Miguel was preaching our friend with the table was approached by three young Muslims who we often see disseminating Islamic literature in an attempt to convert people to Islam.  They came in order to challenge the Bible and the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  Our friend stood firm telling them that they need to be born again in order to enter the Kingdom of God.  In spite of their objections to the Bible (they claim it has been corrupted), and that–according to their prophet–Jesus Christ is NOT the Son of God Jason continued to hammer home the truth of the Bible!

Amélia was approached by a Brazilian lady.  As Amélia is Portuguese she could communicate with the lady in Portuguese.  The lady was very interested in what John was preaching about.  Apparently she had had some involvement with the Brazilian prosperity cult The Universal Church of the Kingdom of God (UCKG) but soon realised that they were teaching falsely.  She gladly took our details and expressed an interest in meeting up with John and Amélia in order to receive teaching from the Word of God.  Please pray for her that she might follow through.

Another lady spoke with Miguel.  She had recently moved to Manchester from Scotland.  She admitted that she was a Roman Catholic and was looking for a church.  Of course we couldn’t help her find a local Catholic Church.  Miguel showed her some of the differences between the Dogmas of Rome and what the Bible actually states.  She did show some interest.  Miguel explained to her that we are usually in Manchester preaching on a Saturday and that he would give her a copy of the DVD “Messages from Heaven” to watch.
