The Bible

The Bible is the word of God. The writers wrote under inspiration of the Holy Spirit the words and message of God the Almighty.  As it is written, “for the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man:  but Holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.  (1 Peter 1: 21)

For this reason it is our belief that the message contained in the Bible is the standard by which we measure every doctrine, spiritual experiences, conduct and practice.

There are those who teach that the Bible is not sufficient. They assert that we are not capable of coming to the correct understanding of truth from the Bible   by alone. For this reason they teach that we must have other books, writings and teachings as well.

The Romanized Catholic church, the Jehovah’s Witnesses, Christian Science, the Latter Day Saints (Mormons), Christadelphians, Children of God and other groups, cults and sects all and have other books considered to be equally valid or more important than the Bible itself.

Some even affirm that we can exist without the Bible as long as we have these other books and/or writings!

The devil has always tried to undermine the authority of the Bible. Throughout history he has sought to prevent the spread of the Holy Scriptures. Even in the Garden of Eden the serpent tempted Eve placing doubt in her mind as to what God said.  “Has God said?” was his question to her. He seduced her into believing that somehow God’s word was wrong and that there was some other explanation.

We can have confidence that the collection of books and writings known as the Holy Bible is completely trustworthy. We can have complete faith in what it says.  Though the world may cast doubt upon it and even pour scorn upon those of us who take it seriously our faith in this book will never waiver. We will continue to live by it, to read it, to teach it and to preach it to the world.

For ever, oh Lord,  your Word is settled in heaven!
