How Dare we Accuse Churches of Apostasy?
…..be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand. Let no man deceive you by any means: for [that day shall not come], except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition…”
(2 Thessalonians 2:2-3)
Our English Bibles translate the Greek in this scripture as “Falling away” yet the Greek, itself, states ἀποστασία (apostasia).
This Apostasy which will come before the rise of the “son of perdition” (whom we recognise as being the Antichrist) will not be the world turning away from God. It will be the churches turning from truth to deceptions, delusions and false teachings and/or practices.
Here in UK we see numerous churches, like the one in the picture, either allowing their premises to be used by practioners of the demonic (such as Kundalini Yoga which is the release of spiritual energy. The word Kundalini means “coiled” as this energy is said to be coiled at the base of the spine line a serpent. Hence it is also known as “Serpent Power”) or they even practice techniques based on such practices.
Many churches across UK have been involved with offering alternative spiritualities to their flocks. This was highlited to us by the recent Spirit of Light festival that was held inside Manchester City Cathedral. Included was the Labyrinth, Prayer Stones, Personality profiling, Jesus Cards amongst others.

With the liberalisation of Christian thinking, the acceptance of those things abhorrent to God in recent years (under the guise of “Love” and “Acceptance”) we have ever right to accuse churches of Apostasy.
Our maxim is, “If it’s not the plain teaching and/or practice of Jesus Christ and His Apostles as recorded in the New Testament we don’t have to believe it!” and what’s more WE SHOULDN’T accept it. In fact it is to be opposed in no uncertain terms.
And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove [them]. (Ephesians 5:11)
The word translated “reprove” is the Greek ἐλέγχετε (Elegchete)which means:
to reprehend severely, chide, admonish, reprove! It also means “To Convict”, which is what judges do to those found guilty of crimes–they “convict them to a prison sentence”.
We are to stand for truth. It is not enough to merely dissagree, we need to actively oppose that which is false and untrue!
…I would thou wert cold or hot. So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth. (Revelation 3:15-16)
The sad thing about the Laodicean church was that even though they thought themselves to be greatly blessed they were blind to the truth and were unable to see how far they had fallen away!
Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked: I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and [that] the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see. (Revelation 3:17-18)
