ON THE STREETS, 2nd NOVEMBER 2012

Today John and Amélia were out in Manchester.  As John preached Amélia handed out leaflets.

Near to where John was preaching were a group of Muslims who had a table on the which were booklets and leaflets spreading the message of  Islam.  John opened his Bible to Hebrews chapter 1 and began to read outloud.  He then continued to preach on the fact that the entire Bible, both Old and New Testaments declare that God has a Son, and that it is through the Son that God’s final Revelation of truth was given.  This is so because Jesus is the embodiment of all that God is in bodily form, as it is written:

Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the
tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.  For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.
(Colossians 2:8-9)

It was not long after, as John continued to read aloud more scriptures declaring God’s Son that the Muslims packed up their table and left.

As John continued preaching he was approached by two young men who introduced themselves as Christian believers from the Czech Republic.  They stated that they were part of a new church that had been formed in a nearby town and they were interested in inviting John to preach to the members.  John stated that he did not know what doctrines they held to and that they didn’t know what John held to either, for there are certain teachings that we (at First Plumb-Line) abhor and speak out against such as Word of Faith/Prosperity doctrine.  They enquired as to scripture which would disprove such a doctrine so John read from Paul’s letter to Timothy concerning our need to be content in whatever circumstance we find ourselves in, our need to shun the love of money and how we should have nothing to do with those who equate material gain with God’s blessing!

They were eager to hear more so John passed his details on to them and they said that they would contact him at some point during the week.

Please uphold all these things in prayer.
